Sir Paul McCartney commanded the highest average ticket price of any music act in 2022, according to new figures reported by the Daily Mirror.
The former Beatle charged an average of £206 for tickets to his gigs last year, US music analyst Pollstar found.
That’s over £60 more than closest rivals Genesis and The Rolling Stones.
Seeking to explain the trio’s place at the peak of the rankings above younger acts, Pollstar said attending one of these “straight-up legends’” shows could represent a “peak life experience” considering they may not tour again.
McCartney and The Beatles are riding as high as ever in the public conscience following the release of Peter Jackson’s ‘The Beatles: Get Back’ documentary in November 2021.
The former Beatles’ ‘Got Back’ tour took in 13 US cities between April and June 2022, with Blackbird, Let It Be, Get Back and Hey Jude among the tracks featured in his typical set list.
Pollstar examined the ticket sales for the world’s 30 biggest tours last year.
McCartney raked in a total of around £87.6m from his 16 shows last year, according to Pollstar.
Although that’s not as high as Ed Sheeran’s £209.3m haul, McCartney commanded more than three times more per ticket than the Shape of You and Castle on the Hill singer.
“Macca, The Stones and Elton are straight-up legends who appeal to a multi-generational market,” Pollstar’s executive editor Andy Gensler was quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror.
“For many, seeing these artists, who may never tour again, is a peak life experience.”
