The White Album is one of The Beatles’ best-loved albums, featuring classic tracks including Blackbird, While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Glass Onion.
But Ringo has revealed that it is one of the 30-track album’s lesser-known numbers that was his favourite to record.
The Beatles were still reeling from the death of Brian Epstein when they recorded their ninth studio album in 1968.
The band were initially listless without their manager, but Ringo recalled recording The White Album as a period when the band came back together as one.
“I loved the White Album,” Ringo confides in a new documentary about Abbey Road Studios, If These Walls Could Sing.
Ringo’s high point was when they moved into a small storage room to record Yer Blues.
“It wasn’t really mentioned, but we knew we wanted to be a band again. And my favourite track was Yer Blues, where we took everyone into a room not as big as this carpet. We just rocked it, and turned into this incredible, close band.”
“It’s one of the all-time great memories for me.”
